Foundation Directors in Osaka, Taipei, and Tokyo

GRM Founding Directors David Day and Elizabeth Chan recently traveled to Osaka, Taipei, and Tokyo, where they were joined by Dr. Robert Eldridge, GRM Director, North Asia, Mr. Chuck Lopez, GRM Director, Southeast Asia, and Dr. Estella Chen, GRM Director, Education, for a series of meetings with other NGOs, government agencies, private sector businesses, and academia.

In Osaka, Mr. Day, Dr. Chan, and Dr. Eldridge met with Akiko Doi, Deputy Director for the International Cooperation Division of the Global Environmental Centre Foundation, and senior leadership at Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management and Peacewinds Japan for further discussions on potential future collaborations in Japan and Asia. In connection with the GRMF Marawi work, GRMF also met with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to provide a briefing on the GRMF preliminary risk assessment of the Marawi reconstruction.

Mr. Day and Dr. Chan also met with GRMF Advisor Prof. Kerry Gershaneck in Taipei for further discussions on Indo-Pacific geopolitical trends.

At the conclusion of the GRMF meetings in Japan, Mr. Day spoke on the role of private foundations in promoting peace and sustainability in the Asia-Pacific region.
