One of GRM's project teams, Kaiaulu Papaloa, is situated at Kealia valley on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Founding Directors David Day and Dr. Elizabeth Chan visited with the Kaiaulu Papalua team (Dr. Adam Asquith, Kamealoha Smith and Lihue Lopez). The purpose of the visit was to brief the GRM executives on the nature and scope of various tropical ag projects that the Kauai team has and to develop a deeper understanding of the watershed management, environmental, disaster mitigation (principally flooding), and land management issues faced by rural tropical farmers in the Hawaiian islands.
For more information about GRM's tropical ag projects, check out our web page on rural infrastructure development here . The field of risk management as applied to tropical agriculture is another project focus of GRM and one of our projects in that field can be found on this page of our website.
